A Hong Kong YouTuber wanted to make his feelings for a woman known, and he expressed them in a manner that left the latter uncomfortable. He hugged the woman from the back on a busy Paterson Street at Causeway Bay and told her,
“Be my girlfriend. I really like you.”

In a video that initially went viral on Threads, the visibly uncomfortable woman covered her chest with her handbag and tried to break free from the man’s clutches, but to no avail. The man had his arms around the woman and dragged her for 10 meters, until several passersby told the man to stop, and the woman managed to break free.
During the struggle, the woman also screamed, “Molest!”
“I don’t know you! Why are you hugging me?!” she told the man.
The woman called the police
When a passerby finally saved her from the man, she stood aside and called the police.

The woman, who broke her silence via a Xiao Hong Shu post, pointed out that she was planning to go shopping at a supermarket in Causeway Bay. She was about to cross the road on Paterson Street when she was suddenly grabbed tightly from behind by a man.
The man who grabbed her appeared calm when he was confronted by the passerby who told him to let her go.

In addition to the male passerby who stopped the man, four other foreigners also stayed at the scene to accompany the woman. She said that it was moving to receive their help in such a crisis, and reminded others, especially women, to be alert to their surroundings.

9 YouTube videos, mostly of women
Hong Kong authorities confirmed that the man was arrested on the same night (28 September), and the case has been classified as an alleged indecent assault, with the investigation still ongoing. According to a Hong Kong media outlet, the man started posting videos on YouTube in June 2024, most of which were of women.
Two days before the crime, the man posted a vlog of himself camping on the street during the typhoon to see if he would survive the disaster.
