Getting married is supposed to be a lifelong commitment with faithfulness and sacrificial love. But sadly, divorce has become a common aspect of today’s society, happening often when people decide to end their marriage.
In a recent post, the Princess of Dubai, @hhshmahra, took to Instagram to share her news of divorcing her husband, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum.
“I hereby declare our divorce”
What grabbed a lot of attention was not just her announcement of the divorce but also her request for divorce from her husband through an online post.
Her Highness Sheikha Mahra explained that, since her husband is preoccupied with “other companions,” she decided to publicly announce their divorce through an Instagram post.
“I divorce you, I divorce you, and I divorce you”
Sheikha Mahra’s divorce post appears to reference the Islamic practice of triple talaq, which traditionally allows a man to divorce his wife by saying or writing “talaq” (which means “divorce”) 3 times.
Mahra’s husband, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, has not made any public comments about the situation.
And as of July 19, the princess has removed all photos of her husband from her Instagram page.
“Just the two of us”
According to Hindustan Times, Sheikha Mahra, the daughter of the ruler of Dubai, announced her divorce just months after they had their 1st child together.
Before the divorce, she shared a cryptic Instagram photo with her daughter, captioned,
“Just the two of us.”
Sheikha Mahra married her Emirati businessman husband in 2023, and they welcomed their daughter in May of this year.
