There are bound to be ups and downs for every business, but this year, the sales are just not that good, especially for the vendors in Ramadhan Bazaars and those who are selling clothing for Raya.
“I fell asleep while waiting for customers”
A Raya clothing vendor in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman lamented that business is bleak this year, and he has had to wait longer for a customer than in previous years. Sadly, he sometimes falls asleep while doing so, reported Harian Metro.
“The crowds are there but most of them come in without buying anything.”
With Raya only a few days away, the vendor said that the sales are only sufficient to cover the rental.
Other vendors in the area said that many customers check on the prices before buying them online, leaving them with lots of “leftovers” of Baju Raya in their inventory.
“The sales dropped 30 to 50% this year,” said other vendors.
“I did not earn anything for a few nights”
On the other hand, another Raya clothing vendor in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan said that many businesses are suffering the same fate this year.
59-year-old Siti Aisyah said that a lot of merchants in the area had to slash prices, but unfortunately, this has not been proven fruitful. The sales are still not as good as they want them to be, according to another report.
“I had zero sales for a few nights this Ramadhan because there was no customers at all. It was a painful experience.”
Siti added that her target was to sell 50 pieces of Raya clothes per night. Sadly, that didn’t happen.
“I reached my highest sales on Sunday, with only 25 pieces sold.”
To those still looking for a last-minute Raya outfit, feel free to visit the market near your area and browse through the collections. Let’s show some support by helping the vendors before Raya falls this Wednesday (April 10, subject to change).
