It’s ridiculously common for people to abandon their pet cats and dogs in Malaysia, especially when the cats and dogs are no longer kittens and puppies.

But this is the first time we’re seeing horses being left abandoned by the roadside.

The Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia – Malaysia Animal Association Facebook page recently shared an image of 3 abandoned horses at Bukit Ampang, Selangor. The poor horses were in horrific conditions as they were clearly emaciated, one horse was even lying lifeless on the ground.

Persatuan Haiwan Malaysia – Malaysia Animal Association wrote, “These horses were found wandering on the road in the area leading to Bukit Ampang, Selangor. All 3 of the horses are believed to be owned by someone but so far no parties have claimed ownership. One of them looked weak and was unable to get up.”

“Residents around this housing area are asked to help the Animal Welfare Board of the Veterinary Services Department and the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council officially track down the owner for law enforcement purposes for leaving their pet horses neglected and without welfare.”

According to netizens, the poor horses have since been taken into the care of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Equestrian Police Unit.

Others have pointed out that the owner of the horses also has various other farm animals that are allegedly neglected.

“The same owner has sheep too, and they have skinny cows. They always let them wander to matter the time. Someone has to go to the owner’s place and take all the animals away.”

It’s so saddening to see animals being treated so inhumanely by their owners. We genuinely hope that the authorities take action against the owner of the horses for animal cruelty and neglect.
