Starting from Wednesday, 10th June 2020, our country will officially move from the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO). Despite the many relaxations announced, let’s not forget that this is probably the most important phase for us. Any slip-ups now and the government will NOT  hesitate to put the whole country back to Phase One of the MCO.

However, the announcement of RMCO did raise a lot of questions among Malaysians. Has our country reached a safe state for us to even be in the recovery period?

Our Health Director-General, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah told in his press conference yesterday that there’s a possibility that Malaysia can overcome the Covid-19 infection chain without even using vaccines! Astro AWANI reported that he did add that despite this we still need to follow strict SOPs to reach that situation.

“To date, SARS and MERS-CoV do not have vaccines … but by using public health methods, we can prevent SARS and MERS-CoV infections in our country without the use of vaccines.”

He reassured that we can reach this state only if Malaysians continue to practice extreme hygiene and social distancing measures. “If we could battle SARS without vaccines, we could also battle Covid-19 without vaccines,” he said.

We can battle this pandemic only if we work together. Don’t let this news lead us into thinking that the danger is behind us!
