Everyone deserves a place in society, including the differently abled ones. As for Mohammed Rosli Asamari, a car wash worker, he truly deserves the spotlight for amusing customers with his expertise in washing and polishing car tyres and rims.

If you’re wondering what’s unique about his ability, he is actually an OKU who does not have the luxury to see things with his eyes. Despite being blind, he has the commitment and skills to do something that requires a clear sight on regular occasions.

Rosli, who is 29-years-old, was born with a blinded left eye and 2 years ago, his right eye turned blind as well which immediately robbed away his sight. His disability has never deterred his will to earn a living by himself and not burden his parents. He admitted that it was never easy to get used to doing such tasks without being able to see.

In fact, it took him around 2-3 years to familiarise himself with the work.

“I used my hands to feel the part of the tyres and the rims that need to be polished. As time passed, I became more adept with my job,” he explained and said that his friends would have his work checked and corrected him wherever necessary.

Fortunately, his generous employer, who is also open to hiring people with disabilities (PWD) had given him adequate space and time he needed before acquiring the skills and performance that Rosli have today.

Rosli is certainly thankful for the positive words and comments from customers. Most of all, he is happy to have the ability to hand over some cash to his parents to ease their burden.

“My parents are getting older and it’s good that I can ease their financial burden despite my disability.”

As of now, Rosli is working at Mie Car Wash & Services in Gombak, Kuala Lumpur. The owner of the car wash centre, Suhaimi Abdullah said that PWDs like Rosli should be given opportunities especially in terms of career so that they, too, can make a living like us.

“Rosli’s commitment and sincerity at work have moved me to be more open in hiring other PWDs in the future,” Suhaimi expressed.

Rosli’s dedication is truly something that we all should definitely highlight. We’re also glad that there are still employers like Suhaimi who is happy to give people who are differently abled an opportunity and a place in society!
