Have y’all had those days where you wish you could take an MC because you were so hungover to the point that you can’t function properly? I know you do!

While in Malaysia it’s impossible to get MC for being hungover, in Germany, you can actually apply for an MC for a hangover because it has been classified as a legit illness. Ayy!

Malay Mail wrote that the German court ruled that hangovers are an actual “illness” …and lucky for them, this ruling came just in time with the Oktoberfest festival starting next week (1st October 2019) in Munich.

The case was made before the judges in Frankfurt after plaintiffs claimed that a company was making “illegal health claims” by offering anti-hungover “shots” and drink powders – which must be mixed with water to consume.

The superior regional court’s ruling read,

“Information about a food product cannot ascribe any properties for preventing, treating or healing a human illness or give the impression of such a property.”

“By an illness, one should understand even small or temporary disruptions to the normal state or normal activity of the body.”

The small/temporary disruptions which they were talking about in the ruling are mentioned below:

  • Tiredness
  • Nausea
  • Headaches

The company claimed that the above-mentioned small/temporary disruptions are illnesses that could be cured with their product but the court ruled otherwise as they insisted that the food product cannot cure these illnesses.

On the other hand, the court also noted that the doctors have coined the medical term “veisalgia” for a person who has a hangover. So, it is a legit sickness!
