Even if some of us are still working from home, holidays are needed too!
On 4th March, His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has released a press statement saying that the public holiday, Agong’s birthday will be brought forward from a Saturday to a Monday. Of course, at that time, everyone was ecstatic!
Even though we’re still in CMCO and some of us are still working from home, we all deserve a holiday and the Ministry of Human Resources has issued out yet another press statement.
“Agong’s Birthday (8th June) has been declared a public holiday under Section 8 of the Holidays Act 1951 and gazetted on March 18.”
This public holiday is also under the list of gazetted compulsory public holidays for employees under Section 60D (1)(a)(ii) of the Employment Act 1955 (Act 265).
The statement reads:
“This public holiday cannot be replaced on other dates and workers who are instructed to work on this day must be paid a public holiday rate in accordance with Act 265.”
On another note, as long as His Majesty Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah reigns, the Agong’s birthday will fall on the first Monday of June for every year.
All hail His Majesty!
