Gordon Ramsay is basically a household name world wide, even in Malaysia. Even if you hadn’t seen his cooking shows, you’ve probably seen the countless memes about him on the internet. Most of them center on him being angry and full of rage at less competent chefs.

Almost everyone is afraid of him, and with good reason – make a mistake and there’s a high chance that he’ll scream your ear off or slap your head between two pieces of bread and say:

Yet, despite his scary reputation, one Malaysian woman was not intimidated in the slightest. Meet Aunty Aini, owner of the popular restaurant, Aunty Aini’s Garden Cafe in Negeri Sembilan.

The feisty lady simply does not care about how many Michelin stars or TV programmes Gordon has. If he wants to learn how to cook the most epic rendang ever, then he better do what she says lah.

Although the video is dated back a few years ago, recently an international Facebook page resurfaced the video and it (without a doubt) went viral instantly. We can see why!

Check out the hilarious yet heart warming cooking session between the two of them.

Gordon Ramsay truly has met his match in Aunty Aini. The international chef was completely out of his depth, especially when coming face to face with the only cooking technique that he has yet to master: Agak-agak.

Aunty Aini agak-agak her entire recipe and it basically drove Gordon Ramsay crazy. He asked her to for precise instructions, you know, like how many teaspoons of these, how many litres of that, but he was simply baffled that there were NONE. The true Malaysian way!

When he tried to do things even slightly differently than how she would do, she’s not afraid to smack him for it.

What’s nice is that their camaraderie cannot be fake. It was interesting to see Gordon finally kowtow in the kitchen. He was actually very humble and willing to learn, not prideful in the slightest. However, Gordon should count his lucky stars that Aunty Aini wasn’t phased at all at his cheeky inappropriate joke about her bunga Telang plant, aka her clitoria bush.

I have to admit, it was satisfying to see Gordon finally struggle with what us Malaysians have struggled with in the kitchen for years; bossy moms with very serabut instructions.

The video went viral, and it’s unsurprising that most of the comments were by Malaysians that find the video hilarious and yet so relatable. One comment is our favorite:
