If you’re bored and have nothing to do this long weekend and have a knack for domestic tourism (which is the only tourism you should be supporting right now), then we have great news for you.

The Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) has announced that they will officially be opening their long-awaited ‘Forest Skywalk’ attraction to the public on Merdeka day!

Barely a 30-minute drive from the City Centre, the Kepong Botanical Gardens, which is operated and maintained by FRIM, will now boast some incredible views of the Klang Valley from the vantage of their newly opened skywalk structure, which is suspended 18-metres off from the forest floor, with a special viewing tower taking visitors as high up as 50-metres above ground.

Measuring over 250-metres in length, the structure has been meticulously constructed from strong and lightweight aluminium that has been reinforced with ‘guy wire’. From atop, you’ll be able to take in the lush greenery of the Kepong Botanical Gardens, surrounding areas of Kepong, as well as the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

According to FRIM’s official post on the opening, the new ‘Forest Skywalk’ will be open to visitors from 31st August 2020 onwards, between the hours of 8.30am to 4.30pm daily. Only 150 people will be allowed to trek the length of this spectacular new addition a day due to current Covid-19 restrictions, with 10 people being allowed to share the skywalk per session. Potential visitors are advised to reserve their spots at least three days in advance.

Entry fees are as follows:

  • Adults (RM15 with MyKad)
  • Children under 17 (RM8)
  • Senior citizens (RM10)
  • Access to the 50-metre viewing tower will incur an additional RM5 fee, and is limited to persons over the age of 13.

For more information or to make your bookings, contact FRIM at 03-6279 7592/7596/7649.

Now go forth and Cuti-Cuti Malaysia lah!
