A woman got lost for four hours after attempting a solo hike at Wawasan Hill in Puchong around 12PM.

According to Kwong Wah, she shared on social media that she had hiked the trail with a friend the day before and decided to return alone.

“It hit me that I had lost my way”

During the hike, she recalled encountering a man, believed to be around 50 years old, on her way up the mountain.

She later approached him to ask for directions back down, but he simply nodded in response before she walked away.

“I met an uncle, and he just gave me a nod. I kept going back and forth trying to find the way down, but I couldn’t. The signal wasn’t that great, and that’s when I realised I was lost,” she said.

Despite the poor signal, she managed to compose herself. Eventually, she reached her friend at around 2:58 PM, who immediately called the police and contacted the fire department to initiate a search and rescue operation.

Others reported meeting the same man

At around 4 PM, firefighters arrived and successfully rescued her. According to them, she was found nearly a kilometre away from the original climbing route, an area not commonly used by hikers.

The rescuers also noted that she wasn’t the first missing hiker to mention encountering an older man before going missing.

She later admitted that, as a novice climber, she had come unprepared and without proper hiking gear.

“Many times we think we’re prepared, but when faced with nature, even the smallest mistake can lead to a crisis,” she said.
