After criticisms from the public, including his mum, Aliff Syukri removed his Raya video from social media but not before he admitted that everything was merely an April Fool’s prank.
Be that as it may, Aliff’s videos on the internet have gotten the attention of Fahmi Fadzil, the Ministry of Digital and Communication and he wants strict actions to be taken. In a recent press conference which was shared on the FB page of Suara Keadilan, Fahmi asked Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Communications (MCMC) to take appropriate and strict actions against Malaysia’s “No.1 singer”.
“Everyone is watching, regardless of their age”
Fahmi revealed that he had received many complaints from the public about Aliff’s inappropriate videos online, which Fahmi himself had observed.
“I’ve asked MCMC to take actions but as we all know, Aliff had taken down the video. So, for now, we leave it first.”
We don’t know what else Aliff has in store for Malaysians in the future, but Fahmi had a message not only to Aliff but generally to all Malaysians who often share their content online – make sure your content is NOT INAPPROPRIATE.
“We need to think about the content we make and share. We never know who are watching, they can be 90 years old, 19 years old and even 9.”
Fahmi also said that as of now, social media is not doing its part in “cross-checking” the information that is being registered by the user because verifications of social media are simply granted to anyone.
“Anyone can lie about their age on social media. That’s why for now, we don’t know who’s watching online. Watching inappropriate videos may impact the kids negatively, especially those who are under 13.”
In the meantime, Fahmi said that he will meet the operators of social media soon to determine if the platform is safe for children.
To the parents, you might want to keep tabs on what your children are exposed to online. They can get ANYTHING by merely “dancing” their fingers on the keyboard. We also hope that Aliff Syukri will take note of Fahmi’s reminder.
