Malaysian Communication & Commission (MCMC) is investigating the viral TikToker who recently defamed the King and PMX by saying they dined at a non-Halal eatery in Johor Bahru.
Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the matter when he spoke to the media yesterday (December 16) and said he would leave the matter to MCMC to take action.
The TikToker apologised for his slandering remark and said he should have done more research about the eatery before posting anything. Fahmi also acknowledged his apology but has a reminder to all Malaysians, including the TikToker, regarding the use of social media.
“I hope this will serve as a lesson for him not to spread baseless accusations. We’re talking about two important figures – the King of Malaysia, Sultan Ibrahim and the Prime Minister,” Fahmi said.
Fahmi also said if MCMC received many reports from the public, the regulatory body would not hesitate to take action.
“Once again, I remind everyone to be careful of what you say on your social media content and not to go overboard when commenting on something. Your comment might be against the law.”
The TikToker is now on hiatus from social media for the sake of his mental health, as announced on his account following the apology.
Earlier, the TikToker claimed that the King and PMX dined at a famous Asam Pedas eatery in Johor, which he assumed was not Halal. Following criticism, the TikToker apologised in a video and revealed that he would be taking a break from social media at the time being.
