So, yesterday’s first Parliamentary session with the newly formed Unity Government was utter chaos due to Opposition Leader and Larut MP, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin bringing up the article, ‘Malaysia: first full-blown homosexual elected Prime Minister in an Islamic country’ published by an Italian news agency.

Many questioned his intentions for mentioning the piece, including Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

He took to his official Twitter page to call out Hamzah for attempting to ‘scam’ them during the Parliamentary session.

He wrote, “What website is Agenzia Nova (from Italy), that Hamzah Zainuddin quoted? Is it credible? The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism has collected the most read news websites by Italians. Guess what? Agenzia Nova is not on the list at all.”

Nova 1

“I thought the website Hamzah Zainuddin quoted was at the level of Bernama, BBC, New York Times. It turns out to be a random website!! Even the name of the journalist who wrote the ‘article’ was not displayed. Don’t try to scam us, Hamzah!”

Fahmi even shared how his Italian friend had also never heard of the Italian news agency.

It’s safe to say that the article shouldn’t have been brought up at all, especially in Parliament where politicians should be discussing how to help the people and to better our economy.

After all, the article could very easily have been created by internet trolls looking to provoke the Malaysian people.

What do you think about this? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
