A Malaysian fuel station worker shared his encounter with a rather peculiar customer recently that left him bewildered.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), @Bobbyss000‘s post has gone viral with over 860,500 views and more than 5,400 likes as of the time of writing.
Malaysian woman asks for fuel station worker’s help to refuel her car
In the post, the man shared how a young female customer in her early 20s approached him at the counter to pay for fuel and specifically asked for help with refuelling her car.
@Bobbyss000 then told the woman that all of the outside staff were currently on break and couldn’t help her to refuel her car.
However, given that the young woman’s facial expression looked like she really needed someone to help with using the fuel pump, he decided to go outside and assist the woman.
Furthermore, @Bobbysss000 felt that he could use the opportunity to teach the woman how to use the fuel pump in case she really doesn’t know how to use it.
The kind fuel station worker wanted to teach her how to use the fuel pump but she just sat inside the car the whole time
However, as the 2 of them made their way to the woman’s car, she just immediately went inside her vehicle and sat there while @Bobbysss000 refuelled the car on his own.
When he had finished fuelling, he just raised his hand as a signal to the woman before she drove off.
Perplexed by what had transpired, @Bobbysss000 said he’s now curious as to whether the woman really doesn’t know how to use a fuel pump or she just wanted someone to do it for her.
He then iterated that fuel stations in Malaysia are self-service and according to the rules, customers should refuel their vehicles by themselves, unless the fuel station explicitly hires someone to refuel for customers.
Malaysians think that the woman’s behaviour was rude and entitled
In the comments section, many Malaysians shared their opinion on the incident, with a majority feeling that the woman’s action was rude.
One commenter said that even if a fuel station staff helped refuel her vehicle, she would still stand outside the car while it was being refuelled and thank the worker afterwards as that shows common courtesy.
Another commenter echoed the same sentiment, saying that sitting in your car while a worker is refuelling your vehicle is snobbish behaviour.
Besides that, one netizen said that behaviour such as this woman’s is the reason why we see cases of vehicles driving away from fuel stations with the fuel nozzle stuck to them, as the drivers are just sitting in their cars and oblivious to their surroundings.
