A while back, Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham became the victim of an arson attack when a Molotov Cocktail was thrown at his residence in Ayer Tawar, Perak. Many believe this was an extremist attack because of his suggestion for non-Muslim constitutional experts to be appointed to the special committee studying the competence of states to enact Islamic laws.
Now, it appears that another politician is coming under attack.
According to a post by BFM News, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming’s parents’ home in Ayer Tawar, Perak, has received warnings on his behalf, telling him to “don’t challenge Islam”.
BFM News wrote, “Copies of a handwritten note warning Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming not to challenge Islam were found outside his parents’ residence in Ayer Tawar, Perak. Nga’s mother, upon discovering the notes, promptly filed a police report.”
“The minister is currently on an official trip to Hong Kong, and states that he will let the police handle the matter. Nga also urges those responsible to refrain from troubling his family, particularly his elderly parents.”
In the images showcased, several pieces of paper could be seen scattered on the road outside of Nga’s parents’ home, with the message “Nga Kor Ming, jangan cabar Islam” (Nga Kor Ming, don’t challenge Islam) written in red.
Considering this happened in the same town as the arson attack on Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham’s home, we genuinely hope that the authorities take extra measures to catch the perpetrators and ensure a heightened level of safety, especially for Nga Kor Ming’s family and elderly parents.
