Chinese New Year is just less than a week away! Hooray! For those heading back to their respective hometowns from Selangor, Gamuda Group and PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) is giving away ‘ang paos’ to celebrate this festive season!
A total of four highways under Gamuda Group will be offering a toll discount of up to 60 sen in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration, which is expected to benefit more than 650,000 road users, The Sun Daily reported.
The highways involved are:
- Lebuhraya Shah Alam (LSA)
- Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong (LDP)
- Sprint Highway
- Smart Tunnel Highway
Litrak chief executive officer Sazally Saidi said an estimated amount of RM300,000 will be subsidised with the discounted rate. Since 2010 to 2017, almost 19 million users had benefited from the toll incentive provided at LDP and Sprint, with a total amount of more than RM12 million.
LSA, LDP and Sprint users are entitled to the discounted toll rate on February 16, starting from 12am to 11.59pm.
- LSA – 20 sen discount (Class 1 vehicle only)
- LDP – 60 sen discount (All class vehicle)
- Sprint – 20 sen discount (All class vehicle)
For the Smart Tunnel, the discounted rate will be offered from February 10 to 11, starting from 6am.
- Smart Tunnel – 30 sen discount (Class 1 and 4 vehicle)
The reason the discounted rate for the Smart Tunnel is given ahead of time is to accommodate shoppers in preparation for the festival.
“We understand the need for travel during the festive season. Thus, we hope this incentive can help to lessen the burden of paying toll,” he said after attending a charity community programme at the Sentosa Nursing Home today (February 7).
On the other hand, PLUS will be offering 20 per cent toll rebate with the following requirements:
- Class 1 highway users
- Registered PLUSMiles or Touch ‘n Go cards via PLUSMiles portal
- Travelling >1,000 kilometers
- 12, 13, 20 and 21 February
On the designated dates, highway users still have to pay for tolls in full. The 20 per cent toll rebate (which comes in the form of toll reloads) will be reloaded into their registered PLUSMiles or Touch ‘n Go cards when users top up their cards at all PLUS customer service centres later on from March 15 until June 14 2018.
However, the toll rebate does not apply for toll payments at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Tanjung Kupang and Penang Bridge Toll Plazas.
PLUS Managing Director, Datuk Azman Ismail said 20 per cent toll rebate for transactions via PLUSMiles cards is aimed at distributing traffic and rewarding registered PLUSMiles and Touch ‘n Go cardholders for their continuous support, as well as to reduce congestion on peak days.
“PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) estimates about 1.6 million vehicles will use the North-South Expressway on every peak day during the Chinese New Year holiday, an increase of 10.3 per cent as compared to normal days,” he said.
PLUSMiles or Touch ‘n Go cardholders are advised to register their cards via PLUSMiles portal here to enjoy the rebate.
A Travel Time Advisory (TTA) was also released by PLUS to help the public plan their journey and distribute the traffic during the upcoming festive season.
Take note of these discounts and rebates for this coming CNY!
