A Malaysian man working in Singapore has passed away after jumping from the eighth floor of an apartment there. The man in his 30s is believed to be suffering from depression due to problems at work as well as missing his family, after being stranded in Singapore for almost eight months.

As reported by Berita Harian, the man was facing a lot of stress in life because he not only has to stay away from his family but also the increased workload following the Covid-19 outbreak. An unnamed source told Berita Harian that,

“The man has complained several times to his wife that he is depressed at work. However, he did not show any change in attitude. Every time he made a video call with his wife, he was always seen as cheerful and always expressed the longing to meet his wife and child again. He also informed that he was making preparations to return to Johor Bahru in 10 days through the Periodic Shuttle Rule (PCA) initiative, but the news that he jumped from his apartment two days ago is very shocking.”

For our fellow Malaysians who are currently facing a lot of stress, we know that we can never fully understand the situation that you are currently in. However, do know that there is always someone out there who is willing to help, even to just listen to your problems. Please seek help if you feel that you cannot cope with the stress in your life anymore.
