Taking place at a comedy club in TTDI, a female comedian thought that it would be funny to claim that she was a Muslim and took off her veil and ‘baju kurung’ during a stand-up performance.

Condemned for the contents of her act, several police reports were lodged on the comedian for allegedly insulting Islam during her open mic show at the club.

Here is a video of the act.

The comedian in question began her act with: “Hello and Assalamualaikum everyone. My name is Siti Amira Binti Abdullah. I am from Kuala Kangsar, Perak.”

“I am a Malay and Muslim. I have memorised the Al-Quran. BUT, one second…”

She then proceeded to take off her ‘tudung’ and ‘baju kurung’ to reveal a blouse and mini skirt she was wearing underneath.

The act, did not go down well with both organisers and netizens. Retaliation began with the comedy club that featured the woman banned her and the woman’s partner immediately after her stand up performance.

Along with several police reports, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) and the police are currently investigating the matter for promoting religious enmity.
