Fake medical certificates (MC) may make it easy and possible for you to ponteng work, but do you know that it is actually an offence that may bring you unwanted consequences?
Just recently, Klinik Iltizam in Ampang shared a fake MC that misused its name on the document, to which they had lodged a police report. In the fake MC, the “patient” granted herself 5 days of sick leave due to influenza. The “patient” was supposedly on MC from January 27 until January 31, but the employer sensed something was off about the duration, so he contacted Klinik Iltizam.
The clinic told the employer that their system has no records of the “patient” visiting the clinic.
Did the employee forge the MC?
Klinik Iltizam then contacted the original owner of the MC and told her that her contact information will be given to the police for further investigation.
“We hope that you can cooperate. We want to investigate if your MC has been stolen and misused, or if there are any elements of complicity in the forgery of the MC,” the clinic told the woman.
The woman then replied and said, “I did send the MC to my friends last time but I have no idea who is using it.”
On the evening of January 31, one of the medical officers in the clinic lodged a police report at Ampang Jaya police station, in hope that further actions will be taken to battle the issues of fake MCs.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Feeza, one of the persons in charge in Klinik Iltizam said that the employee, whose name is on the MC has admitted that it was indeed a fake document.
“At the time being, the HR department of the company is still discussing with the said employee.”
Feeza also told WORLD OF BUZZ that they are planning to take legal action as the forged MC involved the names of their clinic and one of their doctors.
In the clinic’s Instagram post, they also reminded everyone that the details of every patient are kept in their system.
“Every printed MC has its owner. We still have your records, even it it was from 7 years back.”
The clinic then reminded everyone to do what’s right if they need to take the day off.
“If you’re sick, look for a doctor. Or else take an unpaid leave. If you’re unhappy at work, just change your job.”
According to the official portal of the Kuala Lumpur Court, producing a forged MC is a punishable offence with up to 2 years of jail time. If you’ve been producing fake MCs to avoid work, it’s high time that you stop doing so. It’s not only unethical but also puts other colleagues in trouble.
