Excuse me, a what drone now?
If you think your drone setup now is super boring and want to make it a bit more ‘fire’, then this makeshift invention from China is just the drone for you. As reported by the Associated Press, a volunteer group alongside villagers from Zhong county in Central China recently converted a drone into a flying flamethrower in order to eradicate wasp nests.
Old problems require modern solutions too it seems!
The group, named ‘Blue Sky Rescue’ is a volunteer group that conducts search and rescue and other emergency work but for this particular mission, they took the phrase ‘kill it with fire’ a little bit too literally. Together with the Zhong county villagers raised almost RM50,000 to create the drone.
The flamethrower drone was made by, well, putting a flamethrower on a drone, fully equipped with its own gasoline tank and an arm-length nozzle. The drone used was a six-arm drone which makes it able to carry the weight of the flamethrower.
Basically, the flamethrower drone will hover above a hive on top of a tree or others before releasing hell on them. When the drone operator flips the ignition switch, the drone will spit bursts of fire onto the hive.
As of today, the drone has successfully incinerated 11 wasp nests. They are aiming to eradicate more than 100 nests within the Zhong county. Okay, that’s a lot of wasp nests and we can see why they would resort to this invention for a fiery extermination process.
What do you guys think of this fiery invention? Do you think it would be hazardous to use it often? What would happen if the invention were to fall to the wrong hands? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
