“What’s the point of a vasectomy then?”

Unexpectedly, just three months later, he and his wife decided to go for a hospital check-up after she missed her period. To their surprise, they found out she was pregnant.

Li quickly went for a semen test, and the results showed that his sperm was still highly active, with a vitality level of three.

The hospital explained that the situation was merely a matter of probability, suggesting that he was “unlucky.” Frustrated by this response, he proceeded to question them further,

“Then what was the point of me getting a vasectomy? How did you even do the procedure?”

Li and his family were compensated

The doctor who performed the vasectomy did not step forward to answer Li’s question, but other hospital staff explained that sperm could still be present for 3 to 6 months after the procedure.

Li wasn’t happy with how the hospital handled the situation and reported the matter to the local Health Commission.

The Health Commission staff said they would step in to investigate. After some back-and-forth, the hospital ended up compensating Li’s family with RMB 16,000 (approximately RM9,782).
