A sharing on TikTok by user @yaya.tasha went viral on the social media platform recently after she revealed the exorbitant fee she incurred for parking at the Preferred Parking at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
As of the time of writing, the video has been viewed over 228,000 times and garnered more than 1,800 likes, with many Malaysians at a loss as to why she parked her car there when there’s a long-term parking area with cheaper rates at the airport.

At the start of the 21-second video, @yaya.tasha showed the parking autopay machine with her vehicle plate number keyed in.
The machine then shows her car, revealing that it entered the Preferred Parking facility at 3.39am on 31 December 2024.
It then showed how long the car was parked in the Preferred Parking facility, which is 13 days and 8 hours.
After selecting the ‘Pay’ option on the machine, it shows the parking fee incurred as a whopping RM2,084.

In the comments section, many Malaysians said that @yaya.tasha should’ve planned her trip properly to avoid such a high price just for parking.
Several commenters said that there are many other parking facilities with cheaper fares at KLIA Terminal 1, while some asserted that she should’ve just taken Grab to the airport.
Meanwhile, one commenter was amused by the RM2,084 parking fee, saying that it was more than his monthly income.
Besides that, one commenter said that she could’ve bought another flight ticket with the RM2,084, while another said that the amount could even buy you a piece of jewellery.
