In today’s Parliamentary session (February 24), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, has retabled the revised Budget 2023.
In his announcement, Anwar stated that RM1.7 billion in loan facilities will be awarded to micro-entrepreneurs and hawkers under agencies such as Bank Negara Malaysia, Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) and TEKUN.
Among them:
- RM300mil to support micro-businesses by women and youth entrepreneurs,
- BSN provides over RM1bil in financing, focusing on micro SMEs and hawkers,
- TEKUN provides RM330mil, including RM10mil to help youth from disadvantaged families by helping them to start a business, by giving them start-up capital to kickstart a delivery service using motorcycles.
The government will also cover the driving test fee for motorcycle class B2, taxi, bus and ehailing licenses.
The Budget 2023 has a total allocation of RM386.14 billion.
