What a remarkable sight!
Yesterday (21st May), Harimau Malaya wowed Malaysians when they shared an incredible photo of a futsal court in Sabah on their Facebook page.
The gorgeous photo, which looks like something straight out of a fantasy movie, was submitted to their page by a teacher who captured the unique scenery using a drone camera.
The futsal court is located in SK Logongon, Nabawan, Sabah which is a lesser-known, remote area that’s quite a distance from the city.
The court appears to be part of the beautiful ecosystem surrounding it, with creeping plants entwined in its fences, merging seamlessly with the rest of the breathtaking greenery outside.
The lush vegetation surrounding the futsal court also provides students shade from the hot sun along with fresh air, which is why they haven’t been taken down but are trimmed instead.
According to the teacher who sent in the photo, the commute to this school is quite a grueling task.
To get to the remote school, it takes a two hour-long drive on logging roads. After that, students and teachers alike have to cross a river, which takes up to an hour.
Although the futsal court belongs to the school, students still have to take a 15-minute trek through the hilly terrain to get there!
Reading about what these school children have to go through to get an education really puts things into perspective for many of us city dwellers. Even though we’re blessed with accessibility, we still ponteng school!
We commend these students and teachers for their dedication and hard work!
