The Menteri Besar of Johor, Datuk Hasni Mohammad has just announced that the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has agreed for the dissolution of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) and that the state will hold a fresh State Election soon.
As reported by Harian Metro, Sultan Ibrahim has consented to the dissolution of Johor DUN after granting an audience with the Johor Menteri Besar. The Election Commission will be announcing the date of the Johor State Election soon.
Rumours have been floating around regarding UMNO’s push for a State Election to be held following the party’s excellent performance in the recent Melaka State Election last year. Earlier today, Hasni met with Johor UMNO party leaders in a meeting to discuss the dissolution of the Johor DUN in which the party reached a consensus to push for a State Election in Johor.
Hasni also met up with the State’s Executive Committee to discuss the matter before being granted an audience with Sultan Ibrahim at 5pm to request consent from His Majesty to dissolve the Johor DUN.
