It seems like events are all coming back in full swing and we are all here for it!

After 2 years of inactivity, the much anticipated Le French Film Festival 2022 (LFFF22) will be making a grand return to Malaysia from 9 June to 17 July 2022.

Organised by the Alliance Française, the 20th edition of the LFFF is poised to bring visitors a multisensory “immersive experience through captivating events highlighting award-winning French films, mouth-watering gastronomy, exquisite culture and more”.

This year’s festival will also feature a new programme called, Le Petit Festival programme which families can look forward to to entertain their young ones.

As the biggest European film festival in Malaysia, the cultural event will take place in 4 cities including: Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu with an expected reach of over tens of thousands of festival enthusiasts.

Here are the details of the festival:

Kuala Lumpur : 9 June – 26 June
Penang : 30 June – 10 July
Johor Bahru : 7 July – 10 July
Kota Kinabalu : 14 July – 17 July

How to make the most of the festivities

Not sure on how to prepare for the festival? We’ve made a handy step by step guide for you to enjoy the festival.

Crowd

1. Check out the event’s line-up!

With over 40 events already lined up including film screenings, musical performances and culinary workshops, it would be quite impossible to attend every single one of them. By planning ahead, you can ensure that you do not miss the ones that have grabbed your attention!

2. Learn some French words

No, you don’t need to know how to speak French to enjoy the festival. But wouldn’t it be fun to be able to recognise and speak a few words here and there? Here are a few words to start off with!

Bonjour = Hello, Good morning

Merci = Thank you

Enchanté = Nice to meet you

3. Stay up to date!

The events schedule and movie showtimes have yet to be released but with only less than 3 weeks to go till the start of the event in Kuala Lumpur, they should be released soon.

Catch all of the latest news and updates about the festival from their Instagram page, @lefrenchfestival_my and Facebook page ‘Le French Festival – MY’.
