According to Berita Harian, the SMS says ‘Free RM100 credit from MCMC Redeem Now’.

However, it is merely being used by a syndicate to obtain your personal details!

The MCMC, through the Sebenarnya.my portal, has said that there was no offer of free RM100 credit and stated that the web address link or URL in the SMS would lead to a fake website displaying a form for making free SMS credit registration online.

Once you get to this seemingly harmless looking site, the “online registration form” will ask you to fill out your personal information such as your full name, mobile phone number, email address, and even bank card details that include the card number and card value confirmation (CVV)!

In the form, ‘successful applicants’ will be informed that they will be rewarded with a RM100 credit transfer. However, all the information will instead be used by the syndicate to collect money in the accounts belonging to the individual who gave their information away!

MCMC therefore urged the public not to be misled into providing their personal details and bank card details or banking information. Never simply key-in your bank details up online guys! MCMC also asked everyone not to share the SMS links.

If you have any reports and complaints regarding the scam, you can forward them to the MCMC at:

Hotline: 1800 – 188 – 030
Facsimile: 03 – 8688 1000
Whatsapp: 016 – 2206 262
Email: ym.vog.cmcobfsctd-407577@mmksnauda

Be careful with your personal data guys! The consequences of your personal information getting into the wrong hands can be costly!
