These people just wanted to have a good time at a Shawn Mendes concert but online scammers strike again!!
A large group of people found out that they were scammed by the same person, who sold them all fake Shawn Mendes tickets! When they arrived at the venue (Axiata Stadium, Kuala Lumpur) and the barcode the scammer gave them couldn’t be scanned as it wasn’t in the system.
The seller, who goes by ‘Chan Fun Chin’, used Carousell as a platform to sell fake concert tickets using different accounts and names.
WORLD OF BUZZ was told that the scammer has scammed over 80 people and earned over RM40,000 in ill-gotten gains from them! This obviously enraged everyone and all of them marched over to the police station to file a report against the scammer.

Below is a copy of the police report lodged by Darren that he shared with WORLD OF BUZZ, and he claims that Chan Fun Chin (Carousell ID: puffycopuff) told him that the payment was handled being by her boyfriend, Chua Chun Lam. Following her instructions, Darren completed the online transaction worth RM520 on the 23rd May. On the 13th of August, Darren made another transaction on Carousell with a seller with the handle @shermainelii, not knowing that this was also Chan Fun Chin!
Darren made a police report when he received a call from his friends, whom he sold the tickets to, saying that they couldn’t enter the venue due to the tickets being fake!

HOWEVER, no criminal commits a crime without leaving a trace, and this criminal definitely left digital fingerprints everywhere. Apparently the seller used an IC that has the same name as the one registered with their bank account. This just makes it easier for the police to trace the sellers. So, watch out scammers!

The victims are enraged, understandably, as the scammer ruined their night of having fun watching Shawn Mendes, and took home a huge chunk of their cash. We hope the criminals are apprehended soon and the criminals get what they deserve!
