The International Level Quran Reciters Assembly (MTHQA) 2019 is an international level ‘tournament’ that pool Quran reciters worldwide for a 6 day event which began on the 15th of April 2019.
Interestingly the event also serves as an assembly of reciters from non-Islamic countries; with some first time participants namely from Sweden, Norway, Azerbaijan, Montenegro and Austria.
These international participants are almost certain set to become the main attraction for this year’s assembly.
One of the participants set to catch the eye of local would-be suitors is Austrian Ahmet Ucar.
Set to become the heartthrob of the local Muslimah community, this is one dude set to get your halal on.
In an interview with Sinar Harian, the 25-year-old spoke of his love for Malaysia.
“I really like Malaysia and I see no wrong in marrying a Malaysian if the time comes.”
According to the Islamic Studies postgraduate student from the University of Vienna, Ahmet prefers the hospitality of the Islamic community here compared to the community in Europe.
“This is my first time in Malaysia. My introduction to Malaysia was from my teacher who married a Malaysian.”
“Malaysians are friendly and smile a lot.”
Speaking of home, Ahmet said that the Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen is open to Islam.
“But at times there are several restrictions such as the banning of the hijab in primary schools.”
“The wearing of the burqa is also prohibited and you can be fined RM698 or more, but some still wear them.”
“The azan too is not allowed to be played loudly, and is limited to only the mosque’s compound.”
Ahmet’s love for Malaysia, is most probably rooted at the fact that Malaysians in general are very nice people.
So, anyone interested to add some Austrian blood to the family?
