Taking to TikTok, this netizen complained about how development had transformed his township from a serene, laid-back area into a concrete jungle.

Entitling it as “When city planning makes the actual quality of life worse…”, he went on a rampage, slamming developers for disregarding comfort for the sake of development.

He started by saying, “I just saw this TikTok, and it moved me to tears.”

“So, I grew up in Dato Keramat and the roads used to look like this, with the sunlight, it all looks nice and it is nice to live there.”

Showing what the road was like in 2013, he fast-forwarded the image to 2024.

Realising that the roads had been switched from picturesque to concrete, the netizen complained, “…and today, it looks like this.”

He stated, “Which is so so sad. The people who design our cities don’t understand what is important in a city.”

“It is supposed to be more than just a network of roads that connect separate places. A city is meant to be lived in, and if the experience of living in it is miserable, then what’s the point of the city.”

“Who is the city built for? Most of us have the spaghetti interchange nearby Kota Damansara, and it is a nightmare to live there,” he added.

His rant was best summarised in his closing line of questioning.

“Are cities built for cars or for people?”
