By now, Dato Aliff Syukri is well-known for his controversial ‘methodologies’, if not his achievements in the world of entrepreneurship.
Earlier this year, he found himself under fire after coming up with an inappropriate Raya song which was released during Ramadhan. He has since expressed his deepest apology for the matter, and if you think he has ‘moved on’ from his controversial take, you might want to rethink that.
Just last night (July 30), Aliff released an advertisement for his Hijab business via his Instagram account. As you may have guessed, the business itself wasn’t what caught the attention of Malaysians, but the irrelevant scene that came before the advertisement itself.
The video started off with Aliff and his wife in bed, where the former appeared to be pleasuring himself under the blanket.
That prompted his wife, who was asleep, to remove the blanket, only to find out that Aliff was actually playing with his ukulele.
His wife went back to sleep while Aliff continued to play the ukulele before the video suddenly (and irrelevantly) transitioned into the advertisement for his Hijab business.
In the caption of his post, Aliff actually reminded the people to watch the video until the end and NOT to misunderstand the context of the video.
You can watch the full clip here.
‘It’s not funny, Aliff. It’s stupid’
His provocative viewpoint has, as one might assume, attracted the attention of fellow Malaysians who, for the most part, were NOT pleased to see such a manner used in the advertisement for some of the traditional clothing worn by Muslim women.
To most of them, it shows no elements of humour, only stupidity.
‘You’re getting stupider.’
‘Aliff Syukri is rich but stupid.’
‘Can we actually report this to the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission of Malaysia (SKM?)’
‘This is Malaysia, not the US of A. There are guidelines and limits to producing content.’
The business may be booming for the controversial entrepreneur but do you think he has taken things a little bit too far, once again? Do you think he could’ve come up with a better marketing strategy?
