It’s no secret that Malaysia has an abundance of stray cats and dogs.

And while many shelters and fosters are already packed with as many stray animals as they can take in, countless strays still have to live on the streets. Well, maybe there’s another solution?

The Klang 巴生 Facebook page recently shared Klang’s first stray cat park set by the Klang City Council (MPK), where stray cats can be taken care of and take shelter from the weather and dangers.

Klang 巴生 wrote, “Cats no longer need to roam! This is a paradise established by the local government to shelter stray cats. It features a container-style decoration and the space looks quite large. The tentative opening is in August.”

“It provides comfortable accommodation for cats. We hope there will be more shelters for stray cats and dogs in the future!”

And while many praised the initiative, others worried that it might end up becoming a location for pet owners to dump their cats

Though, one netizen pointed out that irresponsible pet owners don’t exactly need a park to dump their pets, and will most likely find somewhere else to abandon their pet cats.

We genuinely hope that the Klang authorities will find a way to prevent pet dumping from happening at the park.

Do you think the stray cat park will be beneficial for the strays or provide irresponsible pet owners with a venue to dump their pet cat? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
