M’sian Badminton Player Tan Boon Heong Shares How He Got Scammed TWICE by His Own Friends

Some of the most common scams in Malaysia involve money, but who would’ve thought even professional athletes could fall victim to them?

In a recent story posted by Malaysian badminton player Tan Boon Heong recently shared a story about how he was scammed out of a huge amount of money.

He was scammed by his own friends

According to New Straits Times, Boon Heong wasn’t the only badminton player who’s been scammed. Lai Pei Jing also recently lost most of her life savings to scammers.

Boon Heong shared on Facebook that he lost RM2.3 million in an investment scam by his friends. He posted this after learning that the fellow badminton player had recently been scammed as well.

He wrote,

“Seeing my fellow shuttler get scammed reminds me of the time I got scammed too.”

The so called friend went MIA!

Boon Heong opened up about getting scammed twice, once for RM2.3 million and another time for RM160,000, by people he knew, including a friend whose child is also a badminton player.

He said he’s sharing his story so others can learn from his mistakes and be careful about where and with whom they invest their money.

“Every scam you fall for teaches you something. That’s just life. You can’t avoid the detours. Everyone has to take at least one.”

 

No matter what you do for a living or who you are, we’re all human and we all make mistakes. Just a friendly reminder to be extra careful about who you trust, especially when it comes to investing your money!
