Despite the laws and having taking actions, many foreigners are still spotted running their stalls and businesses illegally in areas around KL and Klang Valley.

Regardless, DBKL continues to crack down the illegal stalls around the hotspots whenever they receive public complaints. Just recently, DBKL demolished stalls in Chow Kit which had been run by foreigners illegally for allegedly 30 years. According to viral TikTok posts by @bangam007, a few DBKL officers were seen observing the demolished area, with a couple of tractors in motion.

In another video, the man also said that ALL stalls vanished in just 24 hours, and praised DBKL for their swift action.

“That was quick. In just 24 hours, everything was gone. This place will remain an unforgettable memory.”

Based on recent Facebook posts by DBKL, the organisation is not hiding the fact that they have been actively patrolling the hotspots in KL where illegal stalls are set up. If spotted, they did not hesitate in taking immediate actions.

“Thank you. Next, Bukit Bintang!”

The videos are widely ciculated on social media, particularly X (formally Twitter). While some Malaysians said they will miss some of the food sold at the place, many are happy to see DBKL taking matters seriously, and some are hoping to see DBKL paying other places a visit.

“The stalls here are gone. They were run by Indonesians. I’ve been here for 30 years, this was the 1st time. No one had the guts to take these stalls down the past.”

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department of Federal Territories, Dr. Zaliha Mustafa was also praised by a netizen, who suggested she pays a visit to other hotspots.

“Chow Kit has always been a mini Jakarta for me. Finally someone is taking actions.”

“Next stop, let’s crash (the illegal stalls) in Bukit Bintang.”

“Please just eliminate the stalls! There are too many Indonesian immigrants there, I’ve never seen any local Malays there.”

“Chow Kit is full of Indonesians.”

“I’m never a fan of Chow Kit. The place is full of foreigners.”

We’re glad that actions are taken to bring down the illegal stalls that have been running rampant for years, if not decades. Where else do you wish to see DBKL paying a visit?
