“PCK best in JB and Singapore!”

If you grew up with Singaporean sitcom, Phua Chu Kang, you’re likely to remember the tagline but what the actor, Gurmit Singh recently had to say about Malaysian food might just be the “best in Malaysia”. In a TikTok video by a Malaysian food vlogger @danieldineskl, the man had the opportunity to dine in with PCK at a restaurant in KL.

When asked which Nasi Lemak was his favourite, PCK did not hesitate.

“Malaysia. No hesitation.”

At the food display area, PCK asked for all condiments for his Nasi Lemak, including crispy fried chicken. This is what PCK’s full plate of Nasi Lemak looked like.

And the best part? The Singaporean comedian enjoyed his Nasi Lemak like a true Malaysian – eating with his bare hands!

During his meal, the duo played a “quick game” to see which country won for the preferred food – Singapore or Malaysia.

As for Nasi Lemak, Chicken Rice, and Hokkien Mee, PCK preferred the ones in Malaysia. However, when it comes to Char Kuey Teow, Bah Kut Teh, and Chilli Crab, the man prefers the one back at home.

So, it’s a tie! During the quick match, PCK was also careful when answering because he didn’t want to upset any parties. To be fair, taste and preference in food are subjective, and each to their own, right?

Gurmit also said that he was in KL to promote his new comedy show, where he plays a character known as “Hero Singh”. You can watch the TikTok clip below, and see if you’re on board with PCK’s food preferences.

To those who have been to Singapore, and perhaps to our Singaporean friends, which food do you think is unbeatable there?
