As Asians, we can’t survive without rice. It’s best eaten with gravy of our choice and paired with our favorite home-cooked dishes. As for our Malay and Indian friends, sometimes it’s best to eat with bare hands.

As for the others who prefer cutleries, a spoon and fork come to the “rescue”. An etiquette instructor, Katarina, who is based in Europe thinks that you can also enjoy your rice meal with a fork and knife.

Her IG post @katarina.etiquette, which was re-shared by the Facebook page Hollywood Journal, Katarina shows you how exactly to eat rice with a fork and a knife – the Continental Way.

Let’s just say, it’s a little more work as compared to using a spoon and fork, which is much more straightforward. Katarina was served with a plate of rice with salmon and broccoli.

And no, Katarina advised NOT to flip the fork to scoop the rice.

You can also use another ingredient on your plate as a barrier so that the rice doesn’t fall off. In this case, your fork, which “carries” the rice will be like a spoon.

Rice is eaten in a variety of ways, depending on the culture and the location. But with a fork and a knife? We doubt many of you have heard that.

Social media users, on the other hand, “educated” Katarina with the right etiquette to enjoy a rice meal. What if, the tables turn and pasta is eaten with chopsticks?

Well, what do you say about using a knife and fork for your rice meal? Are you up to see the Ahne’s reaction at the Mamak restaurants when you request the wrong pair of cutleries for your Nasi Kandar meal?
