Not all heroes wear capes because ordinary people can be heroes too, just like this kind Singaporean man who went out of his way to help an old man who was lost and all alone in the middle of the night. Jalil Ramla shared his encounter that happened on July 10 at Jurong East on Facebook to urge everyone to be helpful and kind.

On that fateful day, he was working and could have left earlier but there was a gut feeling in him that he should stay back a little later and so he did.

“I ended work at 9pm that day but I chose to stay until 11pm. Although there wasn’t a need for me to stay back at work, I just had a feeling that I should stay. Hence, I kept procrastinating until it’s 12am. After that, I got on my bike and went on my way.”

“I was turning into PIE (Pan Island Expressway) when I spotted a figure clad in orange standing in the middle of the expressway all alone. All the vehicles passed by without stopping but when I was nearing the figure, I took a closer look and it was actually an old man, who looked about 80 years old.”

The kind man decided to stop and find out what the old man was doing there. He took off his helmet to speak to the old man and asked him where he was going.

The old man replied him in Malay, “I don’t know where I am. I have forgotten what is my address and where I live.”

He was shocked as the old man was alone and wearing slippers. He had no idea how far he was from his home. Luckily, the old man was carrying his wallet with him and there was an address inside so he managed to drop him home.

Jalil also told WORLD OF BUZZ that the old man’s home was located about 3km from where he found him. He also tried asking the uncle for his name or what he was doing there in the middle of the night but the old man couldn’t even remember his own name; he could only say that he was lost. Poor thing. 🙁

Jalil said he believes that helping the old man wasn’t a coincidence, as he had brought his extra helmet that day and had an inexplicable feeling that he should stay late at work. The good Samaritan finished his post by reminding other motorists on the road to always help those in need, as he believes that it is never an encounter by chance.

We applaud your kindness, Jalil! The world needs more kind-hearted people like you!
