The cost of food have skyrocketed over the past couple of years, but even then, many restaurants and vendors have managed to keep their prices reasonable based on the kind of food items they sell.

But when they are unreasonable, they really tend to take it too far.

The Cempedak Cheese Facebook page recently shared the complaint of a customer who had to pay RM8 for merely rice and some fried ikan bilis (for RM8, you could easily get a full meal of nasi lemak with chicken!).

Rice 1

They wrote, “Rice and ikan bilis, RM8. Don’t cheat people lah. My intention was only to buy rice but it didn’t feel right so I asked to add some fried ikan bilis, that way the shop owner can earn a little bit extra profit.”

But this shop owner decided to take profiting to a whole new level.

“Rice and the ikan bilis that you took and put so much like that, do you think you can simply price it like we’re in Europe? The pricing is the reason (you’re being called out) and they way you do things is not right. The purpose as to why I’m sharing this is to ensure no one else falls for this. To those who know, you know lah,” they added.

Despite being disappointed, the customer never name dropped the eatery.

While it is understandable that many small business owners are struggling to keep their shops open through surging costs, but customers cheating customers with such ridiculous prices should never be the solution.

What do you think about this? Do feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
