Everyone loves a good joke every now and then to let off some steam but not when the jokes are heavily dependent on insults towards other countries or a group of people.

A Singaporean stand-up comedian recently found herself under fire after her “jokes” about Malaysia and the missing MH370 flight made its way onto social media. She had a lot to say about Malaysia and brace yourself fellow Malaysians, because none of them is a pleasant one.

“F*ck you, Malaysia”

The stand-up comedian kicked off her “session” with a quick and brief history of the events before Singapore became its own country, and after gaining independence from the British. She then asked 1 of the audience about his place of origin, to which he replied, “I’m from Malaysia”.

Out of nowhere, she told the Malaysian audience,

“Oh, Malaysia. F*ck you, a**hole.”

The audience burst out in waves of laughter, and she continued to compare Singapore and Malaysia. She mentioned the former PM of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew who cried on TV after Singapore was isolated from Malaysia but unfortunately, that historic event became an opening for the comedian to make more “jokes”.

“40 years later, we became a 1st world country, and you guys, Malaysia, what are you now? Still a developing country. Awww booooo.”

She cited the situation as the “best breakup revenge”, and gave Malaysians another F word.

Malaysian planes can’t fly and we don’t have WiFi?

In the 90 seconds clip that went viral, which is also available on her Instagram page, the comedian joked that some Malaysians cannot visit Singapore because the planes in their country aren’t able to take off. This was a reference to the missing MH370 flight that happened many years back.

“Jokes about missing flight is not funny? Some jokes don’t land,” she said and claimed that the joke kills in Singapore.

Near the end of the clip, she said that she may be getting a bad review on Yelp, but later claimed that “it’s okay, Malaysians don’t have Internet”.

As expected, while the audience may have laughed at her jokes, netizens online did not appreciate her jokes, especially as regards the missing flight one which many thought have crossed the line.

Do you think the stand-up comedian should issue a public apology for the “jokes” she had made recently?
