Generally, snakes aren’t most people’s favourite animals as there are quite a number of poisonous snakes out there that can literally kill you with just one bite. Of course, there are people who do love these reptiles as well!

Usually, we only see snakes in forested, secluded areas in Malaysia but recent news about a local artiste, Derrick sharing a shocking experience when he encountered a humongous King Cobra that slithered into his house, went viral on Facebook.

In the first part of the incident, Derrick said that he heard a weird noise outside his house in Batu Pahat, Johor at around 4pm on June 18. When he went out to check, he was astonished to find a huge snake making its way to the front door of the house. At that time, he had already closed and locked the doors but amazingly, the snake insisted on entering his house and made it through one of the vents at the top.

Derrick said, “At that moment, I had no choice but to let the snake enter. Luckily there was nobody in the house at that time. I called the firefighters but when they arrived, there was no trace of the snake anywhere in the house. They concluded that the snake must have exited through the back. Now I’m still afraid that the snake may make another appearance anytime.”

Well, you would have thought the snake had left but Derrick’s home must’ve been so cosy and warm that it didn’t want to leave. That’s because three days later on June 21, Derrick posted on Facebook that he finally found the slithery serpent nestled in his house.

“Previously, I noticed that my suitcase was out of place and I found some unknown liquid on the floor near my computer table. After cleaning it up, there was still a weird stinky smell in my house so I investigated and found what looks like some animal faeces under my bookshelf. Immediately, I knew that the reptile was still in the house and called the firefighters to come and check again.”

In the end, it took more than four firefighters over an hour to capture the King Cobra, which was hidden underneath one of the beds. OMG, luckily the snake didn’t bite anyone! Derrick also expressed his gratitude to the firefighters and thanked them for helping him solve his serpent troubles.

Netizens who saw his post commented that the snake only wanted to come for a short holiday and said that it should remember to pay the going rate for three days two nights accommodation. Some other comments were, “The snake is just lonely and looking for some hugs and a good home!” and “You’re really lucky the snake didn’t hurt anybody.

Now, Derrick can finally sleep peacefully without fear of waking up with a slithery companion!
