One of Malaysians’ most favourite food items in nasi lemak, especially the ones that come packed in a banana leaf.

But, one thing many need to remember is that these banana leaves are still plants that need to be checked and washed thoroughly before used to serve food. Here’s an example of why.

The Rose Biru Media Instagram page recently showcased a Malaysian who had almost finished eating her nasi lemak, only to realise that there were frog eggs sticking to the inside of the banana leaf where the nasi lemak was served.

Egg 1

She wrote, “My mum said it’s frog eggs but my partner, to calm my heart, said that it was basil seeds. I no longer want to eat nasi lemak packed in banana leaves from now on.”

Egg 2

In the video, the frog eggs could be seen as tiny little pods on the surface of the banana leaf.

Honestly, if she never eats banana leaf wrapped nasi lemak again, we wouldn’t blame her because seeing this, we’re considering doing the same thing.

We genuinely hope that nasi lemak sellers will properly wash and check their banana leaves before using them to wrap their food items.
