From Hameediyah Nasi Kandar Restaurant in Penang to Old Town White Coffee, many eateries are eagerly taking part in the Menu Rahmah initiative to ease the burden of low-income customers. This time, Menu Rahmah is currently being considered at another place, and it’s probably not where you expect.

The Parliament’s cafeteria!

Yes, you read that right, and you might wonder, do politicians need Menu Rahmah? According to Minister of Communication & Digital, Fahmi Fadzil, he said that the Parliament is often visited by the public too, including the media and the rakyat.

“But there’s no rakyat price here,” Fahmi said in a press conference today (February 23).

He revealed that he has received suggestions for the inclusion of Menu Rahmah in the building’s cafeteria, and he’s on the same page with those who want a Menu Rahmah there as he, too, believes that the idea is reasonable, as reported by Astro Awani.

“I see the necessity for a Menu Rahmah here. I’ve seen many people visiting the Parliament but the prices of the food at the cafeteria there is not cheap, and it has a huge effect on them,” he elaborated.

Unfortunately, the inclusion of Menu Rahmah there is out of Fahmi’s jurisdiction, but that does not mean he’ll stop listening to the suggestions.

“I’ll see what I can do to introduce Menu Rahmah in the Parliament’s cafeteria. If many people are visiting the place, the price has to be ‘Rahmah’ too.”

The Menu Rahmah initiative is really spreading like wildfire. If it’s for a good cause that helps the needy, we guess there’s no harm in it.

If you’ve been to the cafeteria at the Parliament, do let us know what you think about the food pricing there. Does the place need to be “Rahmah-tised?”
