The fate of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, on charges of corruption related to supplying and installing hybrid solar energy in 369 schools in Sarawak, is expected to be decided by the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Thursday (September 1).

Based on a report by Kosmo, the decision on whether Rosmah will be convicted or not will be made by Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan, who had previously finished hearing the testimony of all prosecution and defense witnesses.

The 70-year-old is facing 3 charges of corruption.

According to the first charge, she allegedly asked for a bribe of RM187.5 million for herself, which was made through her former special officer Datuk Rizal Mansor, which is 15% of the contract value from the former Managing Director of Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd, Saidi Abang Samsudin.

The money in question acted as wages to help Jepak Holdings obtain a project known as the Hybrid Solar Photovoltaic (PV) System Integrated Project and Maintenance and Genset/Diesel Operation for 369 rural schools in Sarawak worth RM1.25 billion through direct negotiations from the Ministry of Education.

For the second charge, she allegedly received a bribe amounting to RM1.5 million from Saidi as a reward for helping Jepak Holdings obtain the project. She was charged under Section 16(a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and can be punished under Section 24(1) of the same act.

If convicted, it provides for a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a fine of not less than five times the amount or value of the bribe or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

For the third charge, Rosmah is believed to have received a bribe of RM5 million from Saidi through Rizal for helping Jepak Holdings get a similar project at the same place.

Stay tuned for more updates.
