Just yesterday (August 21), Najib stated on his moving Facebook post that “he’s all alone” as a result of his defence attorneys’ decision to stop defending him.

Najib visited the mosque in Kampung Baru, KL that evening for prayers before taking the oath by uttering the sumpah laknat (swearing in the face of divine retribution), where he refuted all claims made against him.

Ever since Najib was given the mandate to lead Malaysia, up until today, he said that he has never misused the SRC’s funds. Here’s what Najib swore during the sumpah laknat.

  1. I have never, at any time known specifically or otherwise that the RM42 million funds came from the SRC company directly or indirectly.
  2. I have never issued or agreed to create an SRC company for the purpose of collecting any SRC funds for the purpose of personal funds or family use.
  3. I have never instructed any directors or any SRC officer to misappropriate any SRC company funds into my bank account for any purpose.
  4. I was not present during Cabinet meetings which approved a government guarantee for a RM4bil loan from Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) to SRC.

Najib added that if it turns out that all that has happened was a set-up designed by others to bring him down, then those people should be held accountable.

A five-judge panel led by Chief Justice Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat previously denied his new legal team’s request for further time to prepare an appeal.
