The Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa yesterday announced that tablets under the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia programme will be distributed to eligible students in mid-June. He further stressed that the devices come with warranty and were made by an ‘established brand’ in the market.

As reported by national news agency Bernama, the K-KOMM minister also gave more details about the PerantiSiswa initiative, saying that the tablets will be given based on the concept of free use. Hence, students must return the tablets to their respective institutions of higher learning once they have graduated.

The PerantiSiswa programme will benefit 400,000 students of higher education institutions under the Ministry of Higher Education and from the B40 group. An application portal will be opened at the official e-portal of K-KOMM this 15 April, along with full details of the programme.

As for distribution, it will be made in two sessions, with 60 percent of the tablets poised to be distributed in the first session. The second session will involve appeal cases approximately 60 days after the first session.

The PerantiSiswa tablets will be delivered to the students’ place of study, though students can also make the application online if there are not in campus. However, they must first register with the university and get a matrix number.
