A few days ago, we reported about the sad reality that farmers in Cameron Highlands have to face in relation to the Movement Control Order. The supply chain or raw food and vegetables was disrupted due to the limited traffic movement and market business hours. Because of this, Cameron Highlands farmers had to dump hundreds of tonnes of vegetables, resulting in a huge amount of food wastage.
However, thanks to an initiative by Lazada, Malaysians can now buy vegetables directly from these farmers through their platform. As shared by a user on Twitter, the Lazada team has managed to figure out the tech and logistic behind the initiative, so that they can assist in ensuring the vegetables can be sold to the market and preventing any food wastage.
According to the site, customers can make their vegetable purchase directly from Cameron Highland farmers from 30 March onwards. The vegetables are divided into several types of boxes:
- Box A – Suitable for Salads
- Box B – Suitable for Stir Fry
- Box C – Suitable for Stir Fry and Salads
- Box D – Suitable for Stir Fry and Fermented Vegetables
- Box E – Suitable for Stir Fry, Fermented Vegetables and Kimchi
The vegetables included can be found listed within the individual box options. It is also mentioned that orders made before 12 pm will be delivered to you between 3 pm to 8 pm the following day.
