Malaysia’s former Prime Minister has been riddled with scandals from corruption to attempted murder and the list just seems to go on and on.

In a recent short video released by Al Jazeera, it shows reporter Mary Ann Jolley being deported from Malaysia back in 2015. In the same video, former Prime Minister Najib Razak was confronted by the very same reporter who asked the reason for her deportation in a recent interview.

“Why did you have me deported?” Mary Ann asked.

Former premier Najib then defended the action saying, “Good thing we deported you. You’re a nuisance.”

He goes on to explain that Malaysia is a country that does not tolerate people who tell nor fabricate lies. Oh, the irony!

Mary Ann quickly responded and insisted that she wasn’t fabricating lies, but only seeking an interview with him to understand the truth before she got deported.

However, later in the video, ex-PM Najib seemed to grow impatient and upset. There was a slight exchange of words before Najib exclaimed, “I have nothing to do with Altantuya.”

When Mary clarified if the reason for her deportation was due to her investigation into Altantuya’s murder, Najib answered that the decision was made by the authorities and that he was not part of that decision even though instructions came from the Prime Minister’s Office.

“I am totally, totally innocent of the Altantuya’s case. Absolutely,” he assured.

Netizens who watched the video were sceptical and commented on how some of his answers did not make sense.

“He says he’s innocent but his body language seems to indicate otherwise,” a netizen pointed out.

“You’re not aware of that decision made by the Prime Minister’s Office? So the Prime Minister’s Office made a decision without asking the PRIME MINISTER? What kind of boss would allow this to pass?!” one asked.

“Every single person in this planet who reads the news know that Altantuya was your interpreter in the French submarine scandal. Yet you denied knowing her. What a blatant lie!” another responded.

The turning point was when Najib lost his cool and threatened to walk out of the Al Jazeera interview.

Najib was visibly irritated when Mary Ann kept persisting in getting answers from him despite him wanting to move on to talk about Malaysia’s economy. She had asked him to address a few allegations including his involvement in 1MDB, the pink diamond for his wife, and murders of Altantuya, Hussain Najadi, and Kevin Morais.

“Can we go to the economy? We have spent too much time, otherwise, I’m going to walk out – no more, no more, please no more.

“That’s it, I’m done,” he said as he stood up. “If you want to talk about the economy, I will sit down.”

However, Mary Ann insisted to continue. That was when Najib raised his voice and berated her, all on TV!

“Come on, you are not being fair to me… Look, I’ve done my part and I’m not going to stand anymore for this,” he said. Najib finally sat back down when Mary Ann agreed to talk about his legacy.

Later, Najib apologised for losing his cool and said that it was due to concern for his family and Mary’s persistence in asking about the claims, The Star reported.

“I hope Al Jazeera takes this into account and no longer involves my name to this tragic loss of a young mother as it is simply not true that I was involved despite all the admittedly well-designed politically-motivated propaganda to link me. That topic, together with the concern about my family did get me worked up and I lost my cool for a moment,” he explained.

He added, “Although there were several occasions where Mary Ann repeatedly questioned me despite me having already answering her earlier, overall I believe I managed to get my views across as truthfully as I can. I wish to thank Al Jazeera for the interview and apologise if I had lost my cool. I will not hesitate to say yes should they want to interview me again.”

Well, chill lah, who knows right? He kan dah convincingly assured everyone that he’s actually innocent! What do you think about his statements? Let us know!
