The coronavirus is spreading further in Malaysia as the number of infected people has risen to 8.
All infected patients in Malaysia are Chinese nationals, with the latest case being a 49-year-old woman who has since been admitted to an isolated ward in Hospital Permai, Johor Bahru.
As according to The Star, Dr Noor Hisham has stated that the patient is in stable condition and that there are still 5 suspected cases with pending laboratory results.
In addition to the current measures being taken to control the spread of the Wuhan virus in Malaysia, the Health Ministry, in cooperation with the Education Ministry has identified students and lecturers who have returned to Malaysia after visiting China.
“Those who have been identified, will be placed under home surveillance and will each be issued a Health Warning Card and Home Assessment Tool. If they exhibit symptoms, they will be referred to designated health facilities immediately,” Dr Noor Hisham said.
He also added that the Health Ministry is working closely with other governmental institutes to bring back Malaysians who are working in Wuhan, China.
Let’s hope and pray that the coronavirus dies off quickly and that those infected have a speedy recovery so that they can be reunited with their loved ones.
