Considering the fact that Singapore is one of the most expensive cities in the world, not just for foreigners but also for Singaporeans themselves, many of the country’s citizens would actually consider moving out of their country for the sake of a lower cost of living.

And which country do you think they’d move to?

According to a report by The Independent SG, 55% of Singaporeans, in a poll of 1,548 people, chose ‘yes’ when asked if they would move to Johor Bahru to avoid high costs in Singapore.

The other 45% choose ‘no’.

This comes as no surprise as many Singaporeans have already resorted to living in Johor Bahru while still working in Singapore.

How much cheaper is it to live in Johor Bahru?

Numbeo shared that the cost of living in Johor Bahru, excluding rent, is 66.1% cheaper than in Singapore.

However, if rent is included, the cost of living in Johor Bahru is 74.6% lower, considering rental prices in Johor Bahru are 87.3% lower.

Restaurant prices and grocery prices are also 59.1% and 52.3% lower, respectively.
